Heading to college this fall? Leaving your high school life in search of adventure on a university campus can be both scary and exciting, but there are so many things to do, you won't even remember any anxiety that you once had once you get there.
This is a time when you get to explore your individuality and discover brand new interests you may have never even known about before. The list is limitless, so here are just a few awesome things about college:
Reinventing (or Inventing) Yourself. As you head off into your adulthood, you're going to find out more about yourself in your first year of college than you realized in your first 18 or 19 years of life. You'll find yourself running in circles of friends that you've chosen because of similar interests, rather than just because you shared the same lunch period. You might be surprised about the person you truly are when your individuality begins to shine through. Embrace it! It's time to be you!
Getting Creative. College campuses are filled with creativity, and there's a group for everything. You might discover that you love writing. Perhaps spoken word will become your thing. Let your creativity flow because the world is your canvas.
Trotting the Globe. Most colleges offer ample study abroad opportunities. Be sure to cash in on one or two so you can gain a global perspective. Scholarships and grants are often available.
Joining Clubs. At college, there's a club for everything. Find a few new interests, and let the socialization begin! From fitness to cooking, religion to politics, anything you could imagine has an association, and if you can't find a club, you can make your own!
Greek Life. Fraternities and sororities offer an immediate circle of friends who share the same goals. You'll experience parties and philanthropic events, often simultaneously. If you go Greek, you'll likely have these friends for a lifetime.
The possibilities in college are endless. These will be some of the best years of your life, so take the reins, and get ready to experience a whole new you!
